Santa Cesarea Terme is a small town that stands on a large cliff overlooking the sea, overlooking the Canale d'Otranto. The town is full of villas built by the nobles of the area at the end of the nineteenth century and terraced buildings ready to welcome its visitors. On its territory there is also a slight hill covered with olive groves and vineyards. The streets trace the path between elegant houses that seem to make it a country of other times.

The fame of Santa Cesarea Terme is due to its thermal waters with salsoiodic and sulphurous properties, which flow from four natural cavities at a temperature of around 30 °. However, it is also a center that welcomes many tourists for summer holidays along a stretch of coast with a particularly beautiful cliff, on which there are bathing establishments.

Among the houses, there are oriental architecture and liberty tones. The most important is undoubtedly Villa Sticchi, construction built in 1885 with Moorish lines, clearly visible along the coast with its large dome. Noteworthy is the beautiful Villa Raffaella, built on the main avenue in the mid-nineteenth century and named after the Baroness Raffaella Lubelli, who built it as a summer residence. On the upper part of the village it is possible to take an enchanting road surrounded by vegetation that allows you to reach the Belvedere, from which you can admire the whole coast of southern Salento up to Santa Maria di Leuca with a single glance.

Santa Cesarea Terme, therefore, also develops "vertically" on several different levels. In the lower part, we find the spa and its establishment, as well as the rocky coast which in some places allows free access to the sea. At half height stands the main town consisting of a single main road, surrounded by the villas mentioned above. In the highest part there are other buildings, the fourteenth-century Mother Church of the Sacred Heart and the winding streets that lead to the top of the hill. Its particular "layered" conformation is also evident from the presence of features and numerous stairways that allow pedestrians to reach the different levels of the country without necessarily having to use the car.

On days of great brightness, you can admire the mountains of distant Albania and the island of Corfu on the horizon.
